This next tip is so important in the gym and is a training principle that I completely stand by and live by make sure you’re doing this on all your lifts! Make sure to control the eccentric portion of the rep with a 3-4 second count on the way down. The eccentric is the lowering portion aka on the way down of musculature contraction and is where the most mechanical damage and growth occurs within a single rep. Also by being in control of the whole rep we will be able to drive more stimulus and tension to the muscle that we are training and injury risk will be reduced greatly by doing this.
