Povarskaya Street is located in the center of Moscow, connects the Arbat and the Garden Ring.
In the XIV-XV centuries, Povarskaya Street was a busy highway. This is where the trade road to Veliky Novgorod passed.
The name of the XVI—XVII centuries is given by the palace Cook's sloboda (village), where cooks and other service personnel of the royal cuisine lived. At the same time this area was also chosen by other estates: stoves-makers, archers, printers, chimney sweeps in addition to the cooks who traditionally live here.
At the same time, estates of the Moscow nobility appeared in this area: boyars A.I. Morozova and B.M. Khitrovo.
During the XVIII—XIX centuries, Povarskaya was one of the most aristocratic streets of Moscow, representatives of many noble families lived here: Dolgorukovs, Golitsyns, Sheremetevs, Gagarins, Baryatinskys, Volkonskys and many others.
In different years, Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov, Nikolai Gogol and Pyotr Chaadaev, Taras Shevchenko and Aksakov, decembrist Sergei Volkonsky visited or lived on Povarskaya.

Поварская улица находится в центре Москвы, соединяет Арбат и Садовое кольцо.
В XIV-XV веках улица Поварская была оживленным трактом. Именно здесь проходила торговая дорога на Великий Новгород.
Название XVI—XVII веков дано по дворцовой Поварской слободе, где жили повара и другой обслуживающий персонал царской кухни. Помимо традиционно проживающих здесь поваров и стряпчих, этот район облюбовали к этому времени и другие сословия: печники, стрельцы, печатники, трубочисты.
В это же время в этом районе появляются усадьбы и московской знати: бояр А.И. Морозовой и Б.М. Хитрово.
На протяжении XVIII—XIX веков Поварская являлась одной из самых аристократических улиц Москвы, здесь жили представители многих знатных фамилий: Долгоруковы, Голицыны, Шереметевы, Гагарины, Борятинские, Волконские и многие другие.
В разные годы посещали или жили на Поварской Александр Пушкин и Михаил Лермонтов, Николай Гоголь и Пётр Чаадаев, Тарас Шевченко и Аксаковы, декабрист Сергей Волконский.
