राणी बाग.. नव्या रुपात व नव्या ढंगात | सर्व प्राणी व पक्षी पहा एकदम जवळून | Mumbai Zoo | Byculla Zoo

वीर जिजाबाई भोसले उद्यान तथा राणीचा बाग ही मुंबईतील सर्वात जुनी आणि मोठी बाग आहे. हिचे मूळचे नाव क्वीन व्हिक्टोरिया गार्डन्स होते. ही बाग भायखळा येथे असून ५३ एकर परिसरात पसरलेली आहे. देशातले सर्वात जास्त वनस्पतिवैविध्य या बागेत आहे. या बागेचे उद्‌घाटन १९ नोव्हेंबर १८६२ रोजी लेडी कॅथरीन फ्रेअर यांनी केले आणि लगेच ती बाग जनतेसाठी खुली झाली. २०१२साली या बागेच्या निर्मितीला दीडशे वर्षे पूर्ण झाली. राणीच्या बागेत झाडे, झुडपे, लता आणि शंभरी ओलांडलेले अनेक वृक्ष यांचा संचय असलेला अनमोल खजिना आहे. १८९० मध्ये उद्यानालगतची १५ एकर जमीन खरेदी करून या उद्यानाच्या आकर्षणात भर घालण्याच्या दृष्टीने काही प्राणी येथे आणले गेले आणि या सार्वजनिक बागेत 'प्राणिसंग्रहालया'चा जन्म झाला. या बागेत हत्ती, गेंडा, साप, कासव, अस्वल, बिबटया, तरस, कोल्हा, वाघ, मगर, पक्षी, हरिण इत्यादि प्राणी आहेत.


Jijamata Udyan is spread over a vast land of 52 acres. It was originally called Raanichi Baug after its British name Victoria Gardens and is also currently known as Veermata Jijabai Udyan & Zoo.
Jijamata Udyan Zoo is home to many animals including deer, elephants, hippo, blue bull, tiger, snack, tortoise, birds, sher and many more. You will get to see crocodiles, pythons in the zoo. It is home to birds belonging to 24 different species.
The recently opened Penguin exhibit is winning the hearts of all visitors.
Walking through the zoo to view all animal exhibits, you will be shaded by huge trees. Being a botanical garden, you will be able to see a wide variety of plants and trees here.

Carry food if you are taking kids with you.
Also remember to carry a water bottle with you.
