China urges India to abide by consensus on border issue to safeguard bilateral ties 中國敦促印度恪守邊界問題共識

China urges India to abide by the consensus on the China-India border issue to safeguard the hard-won situation and the bilateral ties, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Monday.

Zhao made the statement when asked to comment on India's statement about the 13th round of China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting which was held on October 10 at the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point on the Chinese side.

"The spokesman for the Western Theater Command has made a statement on the border issue, clarifying the relevant facts and China's position. India's statement is totally groundless. In the 13th round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting, China made great efforts to ease the border situation proceeding from the overall benefit of the two countries and two militaries, fully demonstrating our sincerity. However, India still insists on unreasonable and unrealistic demands, adding more difficulties to the negotiations," said Zhao.

"China is firm in its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty. We hope that India would not misjudge the situation, cherish the hard-won situation in the China-India border areas, strictly abide by the relevant agreements and consensus reached between the two countries and two militaries, show sincerity, and take concrete actions to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the border areas," he said.

外交部發言人趙立堅週一在北京舉行的例行記者會上表示，中方敦促印方恪守在中印邊界問題上達成的共識，維護來之不易的局勢和雙邊關係。

當被問及印度關於10月10日在中方莫爾多-楚舒爾邊境交匯點舉行的第13輪中印軍團指揮官級會議的表態時，趙作出上述表態。

“西部戰區發言人就邊界問題發表聲明，澄清了有關事實和中方立場。印方的說法毫無根據。在第13輪中印兵團司令級會議上，中方作出了巨大努力從兩國兩軍大局出發，緩和邊境局勢，充分體現了我們的誠意。但印度仍堅持提出不合理、不切實際的要求，給談判增加了更多困難。”

“中方維護國家主權的決心堅定不移，希望印方不要誤判形勢，珍惜中印邊境地區來之不易的局面，嚴格遵守兩國達成的有關協議和共識，兩軍以誠相待，以實際行動共同維護邊境地區和平穩定。”
